Does chocolate cause pimples?
No buttons, no chocolate?
According to several studies, acne seems to have a chocolate component.
The evidence in numbers: almost 5 more pimples for students who ate a chocolate bar !
Small squares, big effects
The culprits could be the flavonoids contained in cocoa whose effect would be PRO-inflammatory. These same flavonoids normally famous for their ANTI-inflammatory effects... Everything is not completely clear about this cocoa effect.
What our Doctors can affirm, however, is that sugar and milk present in large quantities in some chocolates play an important role in the occurrence of pimples.
Black is black, but there is hope
No need to panic, not all chocolates should be banned from your "SOS comfort" kit.
Dark chocolate is the one that aggravates acne the least.
The solution for adventurers: switch to 100% cocoa grand cru... but if you are not a fan of bitterness, changing your milk or white chocolate (which, between us, is not really chocolate but rather a sugar bar) for dark (at least 80%), will already allow you to have a clear mind without too many pimples!
This chocolate story is just an appetizer of what you could learn by taking the diagnostic that our Doctors have prepared for you. So, schedule a consultation and receive advice tailored to YOUR acne.
